What to Expect At Your Skin Check

Your appointment should take about 10-15 minutes, depending on your skin type and number of spots or moles you have.

Spotscreen recommended that participants be screened in their underwear to ensure the skin is thoroughly checked.

Loose fitting shorts and a gym crop top can also be worn to participate in a full body check.

If you do not wish to undress to underwear, you can let our practitioner know during your check.

Should the Practitioner identify any spots or moles that require diagnosis or treatment, you will be provided a referral to see a GP.

Disclaimer - Terms & Conditions of Your Skin Check

Spotscreen Practitioners provide a primary skin cancer assessment only and do not medically diagnose or treat skin cancer. During your assessment, the Practitioner will use Dermoscopy and established guidelines to examine your skin to attempt to identify any irregular or suspicious lesions which are evident only on the day of your assessment.

If an irregular or suspicious lesion is identified, it will be documented for reference. You should see a General Practitioner or suitable Medical Practitioner for diagnosis of the lesion within the time frame advised by the Practitioner. Recommendations provided are for a General Practitioner and not to a Specialist Doctor.

At the time of assessment, the onus is on you to advise the Practitioner conducting the assessment of any skin changes you are experiencing or have experienced. You must also advise of any personal underlying medical conditions or current medications.

Your participation in this assessment is voluntary and Spotscreen reserve the right to suspend or conclude the assessment, for whatever reason, at any time the Practitioner deems necessary. As skin cancer can form quickly, Australian skin cancer guidelines recommend that you check your own skin once a month for any changes and seek medical advice within one week of noticing a suspicious new or changing lesion. The booklet or sheet provided to you at your appointment with any recommendations, is not a medical record, and is provided to you as a personal health information resource only. It contains simple strategies on how to check, protect and care for your skin.

Information collected by Spotscreen Pty Ltd may be depersonalised and form part of a group statistical report, in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Your information remains strictly private and confidential and is not shared with a third party without your express consent.

To the extent permissible by law, Spotscreen Pty Ltd, its employees, officers, directors, agents and contractors accept no liability (including liability for negligence) for any loss, damage of personal items, injuries, illness or death resulting from this assessment.

·     Missed appointments are non-refundable.
