What to Expect At Your Skin Check
Your skin check takes around 15 minutes, depending on your skin type and the number of spots to be assessed.
For the most thorough examination, Spotscreen recommends screening in underwear. Alternatively, you may wear loose-fitting shorts and a gym crop top and still receive a full-body check.
If you’re not comfortable with either option, simply let your practitioner know on the day - your comfort is always respected.
If any spots require further assessment, you’ll be given a recommended follow-up timeframe to see your GP or preferred provider.
We look forward to seeing you at your appointment and supporting your skin health.

Important Information About Your Skin Check
Spotscreen Practitioners provide a primary skin cancer screening assessment only. This service does not involve medical diagnosis or treatment of skin cancer.
During your assessment, the Practitioner uses dermoscopy and recognised clinical assessment frameworks to visually examine your skin on the day of screening, with the aim of identifying features that may appear irregular or suspicious at that time. Findings are limited to what is visible during the assessment and may change over time.
If a lesion appears irregular or suspicious, it will be documented for your reference, and you will be provided with a recommended follow-up timeframe to see a General Practitioner or suitable Medical Practitioner for further medical assessment and diagnosis. Recommendations are provided for review by a GP and not a Specialist Doctor.
At the time of your assessment, you are responsible for advising the Practitioner of:
-
any skin changes you have noticed,
-
any symptoms you are experiencing or have previously experienced, and
-
any relevant medical conditions or current medications.
Participation in this assessment is voluntary. Spotscreen reserves the right to suspend or conclude an assessment at any time if the Practitioner determines it is clinically or operationally appropriate to do so.
As skin cancer can develop or change rapidly, Australian skin cancer guidelines recommend monthly self-skin checks and seeking medical advice promptly if you notice any new or changing lesions.
Any booklet, report, or information sheet provided to you following your appointment is not a diagnostic medical record and is supplied as a personal health information resource only, including general guidance on skin checking, protection, and care.
Information collected by Spotscreen Pty Ltd may be de-identified and aggregated for reporting and quality-improvement purposes, in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Your personal information remains confidential and is not shared with third parties without your express consent, except where required by law.
To the extent permitted by law, Spotscreen Pty Ltd, its employees, officers, directors, agents, and contractors do not accept liability for outcomes beyond the scope of this screening assessment, noting that this does not exclude rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law.
By participating in the screening appointment, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and consent to the terms of this information and disclaimer.
